In 2020, the Cancer Research Society is celebrating its 75th anniversary while the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation marks its 25 years of supporting breast cancer research and the women affected with the disease. Together, the two organizations are celebrating 100 years of cancer research. To commemorate this historical milestone, the Cancer Research Society and the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation announce the joint funding of one or more major research projects targeting metastatic breast cancer.
Total budget 1 million dollars ($1M) co-funded by CRS (50%) and QBCF (50%), with a maximum amount granted of $500,000 per project over 3 years.
Additional funds from other sources, either in kind or in cash, are not required for this grant. However, if available, they could be included in a project budget to strengthen an application.
Research Priorities Projects must target metastatic breast cancer, and focus on one of the following priorities:
Applicant Eligibility All applicants and co-applicants must be a University Investigator or a Clinical University Investigator from an institution, center, research institute or department affiliated to a Quebec-based university or to a Canada-based university.
At least one applicant or co-applicant must be from an institution located in Quebec.
In this Competition, postdoctoral trainees are not eligible as Principal Investigators.
Competition Process Applicants to the 100 Years of Cancer Research competition must submit a letter of intent (LOI).
The Cancer Research Society will review all LOIs for conformity and quality. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application. A peer review committee will rank the applications and chose the best ones.
Both, letter of intent and application forms must be submitted via ProposalCentral.
*** All applications must be submitted in English to facilitate peer review by international reviewers.
